Presented here is a late 18th century North Indian katar with a curved blade. The handle and handle bars have remains of silver plating. The handle bars are peaked in the center and the base is of triangular form. The side bars widen towards the top and have a slightly cusped profile. The blade is curved, with a raised central rib and a swollen tip. Making it suitable for armour piercing. Condition is good with obvious wear to the silver and some stains and scattered pitting to the tip of the blade. The dagger has been cleaned upon arrival removing old yellow film of old linseed oil. The item comes with a 19th century scabbard. German antique market. Overall size is (unsheathed) 40cm with a 22,5cm blade.
