Paul Mak

For sale from my private collection. A painting by the Russian-born artist from Belgium Paul Mak (1891-1967)(Pavel Petrovich Ivanov). He was a prolific artist known for his diverse styles, including Persian-style illustrations. He became a Persian national and court painter to the Shah of Persia in 1927. The painting depicts two elderly men in a snowy landscape, one carrying a richly decorated carpet, with spectral figures in the background. Inscriptions in the back 'Paul Maeck, Achat à l' expo 1958 pour 5.000 francs' and 'Robert, valeur en 1997 100.000 francs'. A Belgian newspaper review about the artist from the late fifties.

Condition is good but the bottom part of the illustration is damaged and should be repaired. (see pictures) The painting is still in its original frame. In fact; a lot of his works from this period have the same frame type.
